D squared represents the brand founders, Dean and Dan Caten, who are twins. They both enrolled in the Parson’s School of Design in New York City in 1984. After working in the industry for eight years the twins moved to Italy to begin their own brand. It was in 1992 that the Caten brothers presented their first men’s collection under the Dsquared2 brand.

Since the duo is from Toronto, Canada, they incorporate a mix of Canadian iconography, refined Italian tailoring and playful sensuality into their lines. For men their label has sneakers, sandals, laced shoes, ankle boots, boots and sport boots. For women, they have sneakers, pumps, sandals, ballerinas, boots, ankle boots and sport boots. All footwear is made in Italy.
