Four businessmen decided to create a company located around Saucony Creek in a place called Kutxtown, Pennsylvania. Initially, the company produced children's shoes but eventually began to manufacture athletic products such as running shoes. Abraham Hyde had also founded a shoe company in 1910 and the Hyde Company manufactured slippers, sports footwear and army boots. In 1968, the Saucony Shoe Company was acquired. By the 1980s, Saucony had produced running shoes which included the Trainer 80 and the Jazz O, which is the company's most popular shoe. A lot of innovation technologies and products were also created or enhanced by Saucony such as the very first shoe that was purely designed for walking. Another was the midsole technology used in Saucony shoes to create stability and cushioning.
